Jockey Avatar

For a start, players are required to choose a jockey (from four free options) to represent them, with the potential to gain a special fifth jockey if they receive the Early Migrator Badge. The jockey avatar can be fully customized, with eight body components to choose from.

Horse NFT

Since the horse NFT is the racing engine of the game, a player must acquire it in order to participate in the training program and racing competitions. Like the jockey avatars, the horse NFTs are made of eight different parts, but are randomly distributed to players upon purchase and cannot be customized. Players can choose to release their horses back to nature in exchange for better and high-value items, including rare-grade horses.

Training 

For training to commence, the player selects their race of choice and makes it their goal. The chosen race determines the training period, but the length of full-time in-game training is three years. The total number of points acquired during the training informs the final grade, with the highest receiving a Grade S rank and the lowest a Grade F. The higher the rank of the horse, the more utility tokens, better quality food and experience-increasing items the player receives.

Competitions

Players can choose from two types of games, as follows.

PvE Competition

During the training mode, players can engage in PvE race competitions, which are held with NPCs according to the player’s set schedule. The player can access information before the race to learn more about the participating horses and race course stats, and then make changes in running style based on the data. During the race, it's also possible to check other horses’ progress and to see which horses use particular skills, all in real time.

PvP Competition 

PvP competitions are held seasonally, and the points accumulated from each race lead to token rewards. Top players who achieve high rankings receive more bonuses, and the winner for each season gets to enter the Hall of Fame. Players need to register with a fee for a competition they wish to compete in, but are free to spectate at any competition.

Breeding

Based on complex algorithms, and at a fee, players can breed their horses to create multiple foals within the set parameters. Inbreeding is restricted, and crossbreeding between parents and children is not permitted. The breeding fees are paid using CRT and DSRUN tokens, and the mating fee for the stallion in CRT. The characteristics of each new horse are randomly created based on the parents' traits.

Horse

Horses are the core element of Derby Stars. Each horse NFT is categorized according to statistics, talent, track preferences and skills, all of which affect the quality of the horse. While statistics can be leveled up, talent, track preferences and skills are fixed, and cannot be altered through training.

Soul

Players receive a soul NFT when they breed two horses. The soul NFT can also be hatched as a foal after five days. Soul NFTs aren’t movable creatures, so players can't use them in training programs or racing competitions. However, they can trade them on the Derby Stars NFT Marketplace.

Foal

A foal can participate in all aspects of the game except breeding. After 72 hours, however, a foal matures into a grown horse, resembling its parents in appearance and ability. Occasionally, a mutant may be born with capabilities that eclipse those of its parents.

Derby Stars offers two ERC-20 tokens, the DSRUN governance token and the CRT utility token, to support its dual token economy. 

DSRUN

DSRUN is earned through PvP competitions. Its primary use is as a governance token for proposing and voting on the Derby Stars platform’s development ideas.

CRT

The CRT token supply is unlimited, but they’re only used as in-game currency for breeding horses and crafting items. A player can earn them through various user interactions, such as training horses, PvP competitions and other events.

Derby Stars has a fixed max supply of 500,000,000 DSRUN tokens, as well as its unlimited supply of CRT tokens.
